The 5th of May, 2015 was celebrated as ‘The Founder’s Day’. This day is dedicated to our Blessed Edmund Rice, the founder of the Christian Brother Institutions.
The day began with garlanding the portrait of Blessed Edmund Rice and lighting of the lamp by our Principal Mr. Ravi Victor along with a member from the teaching staff, the grade ‘D’ staff and a Student. This was followed by a special Assembly conducted by the student of our Senior School.
The Highlight of the assembly was the skit showcasing the life of our founder and how he began his mission of educating unruly and underprivileged children in Ireland. It was followed by a hymn sung by our school choir and a dance performance by two of our senior school boys. The assembly concluded with an inspiring speech by our Principal, appealing everyone to carry forward the mission of our founder in his or her own way.
After the assembly there were several activities lined up for the students. The junior and the Middle school children had a drawing competition held in their classrooms. An inter – class football tournament was organized for the boys of the middle and senior school. The senior school boys and girls also had a basketball tournament organized for them. Once all the matches were over the children got a small treat from the school, which was served in their classrooms.
As the school got over the catholic students and staff went for a special thanksgiving mass offered in the school chapel. There was a short PowerPoint presentation which was shown before the mass, it highlighted the life history of Blessed Edmund Rice.
The day concluded with a fellowship lunch for all members of the St. Vincent’s family including the staff of St. Vincent’s High & Technical School, The Technical School, ‘NIOS’ and The ‘Ashaniketan’. The occasion was graced by Rev. Fr. Peter, Br. Sunil Lobo and a few nuns form the missionaries of charity.
