Saturday, 4th of July was a day of honour and pride for all the CCBI schools, as Br. Revo Mark Miranda Memorial Tournament, formally known as CCBI tournament commenced on that day. The sun shone brightly on all the willing participates and it was evident that it was the beginning of an indelible event. Our school hosted the under -13 soccer, under- 19 Badminton and under -19 Basketball matches. Br. Raj Norohna, the superintendent of St. Vincent’s Industrial training institute, added vivacity to the tournament by consenting to become the Chief Guest for the tournament. He kicked the Soccer ball and declared the tournament open.
Spirits were running high and excitement could be felt throughout the walls of St. Vincent’s High & Technical School as the participants prepared for the games.
The teams were led in by our prestigious school band. The teams were– St Mary ‘s(Mt Abu), Goethal’s Memorial (kurseong) , St. Joseph’s College Bow Bazar (Kolkata), St. Mary’s (Dum Dum), St. John’s, Chandigarh, St. Edmund’s, Shillong ,our neighbouring school St. Patrick’s Higher & Secondary School and our very own St. Vincent High &Technical School.
There was a short entertaining program before the first match to lift their spirits.
After battling for three consecutive days, the teams played the final match on 6th of July .St. Edmund’s shillong gave a tough fight to Goethal’s Memorial and proudly walked away with the cup in the football tournament.
In the Basketball match Goethals managed to defeat St. Joseph’s college, Bow Bazar, Kolkata and became the champions and in Badminton, the proud winners were St. John’s Chandigarh who fought against our neighbouring school, St.Patrick’s Higher Secondary School,Asansol. One of the most important event in our school’s calendar came to an end and the players received prizes in different categories. The Chief guest made an instructive and didactic speech that inspired all greatly followed by the vote of thanks by our respected Principal, Mr. Ravi Victor. This tournament not only brings different CCBI schools together but also inculcates the spirit of brotherhood in the hearts of our loving students.
